This is our list for the new classroom equipment :) Feel free to make any changes you deem necessary as long as the whole group is in agreement (or at least most of the group!!!) (:
Even with all these things we are at $5600 .
I feel that all our software right now is all educational games which is fine, but we should think about cutting maybe 2 of them out to make room for other software programs.
Such as Microsoft Office, and some sort of Antivirus as those programs are important and do not come standard.
To get Microsoft Office @ $99.60 on each computer would cost $996.
McAfee Antivirus this is 49.99 and each protects 3 computers, thus we would need to purchase 4 to cover 10 computers coming out to be 199.96. In a real classroom protecting computers is important to avoid problems and forcing schools into buying new computers.
With my additions it brings us well over the total with 6795
I agree, I didn't think about the Antivirus software until you mentioned it. I also found out that the teacher's computer has nothing on it! We'll also have to add something such as:
    Publisher $99.95
and any other programs that are essential for teachers.
Again, I was just throwing some ideas out, and giving us some options, we probably only need 1, maybe 2, educational software programs. Also, we can always just upgrade the computers we have, and if we have the money maybe buy some new computers, monitors, and everything that goes with it.
I was also wondering, can't we sell the old computers and use that money towards getting some new ones? Getting new computers to update the old ones costs just about the same as getting these all-in-one computers.
It may be a little unnecessary to have two printers since we are on a budget.
Ok.....revised list, it is just hypothetical. We can make changes if there's something we don't agree on! No biggie :) After we decide on a definite list all we need to do is get the fixed numbers and write the summary!!! what do y'all think??

We can sell our old computers for a total of $500 ($100 per computer-including monitor, keyboard, mouse, power plug, etc.) which would bring our total spending money to $6,500.
Everything here seems good to me.
I saw that we had a few extra dollars by selling our old computer, which I think was a great idea, so I added two new net books and a cheaper projector to our list. Though the students won't be able to access all of the different software we added to the desktops. These two new netbooks will allow two more students to access the internet and use open office for projects. These might not seem like much but I think in the long run it will be beneficial to the students. If you don't deem these netbooks necessary please take them off the list.

New software is essential for the new computers that are being purchased. Open Office is a great replacement for Microsoft Word. It is a money saver for budgets because it is free and accessible by downloading on the internet. Since the students will be able to explore the internet an antivirus program is very important. An antivirus program will prevent any damage being done to the computeres which may help cut cost in the long run. Two educational software programs will be used within the budget. World Explorer is a program that help students learn facts about the world and its history. This will be a new and fascinating way of teaching the class. The second program is Oregon trail which is a CD which presents the students with a journey of life on the Oregon Trail.
All the new equipement purchased with the $6,000 awarded would help expanded the student's learning in the classroom. Everything would be utilized and put to good use. The new computers and programs will get the student's excited and wanting to learn about history.

    Summary:
We sold all the old computers for $100 per computer (the whole package) which gave us $500 extra to work with! For the hardware,
we decided to get new computers because the cost of refurbishing the old computers turned out to be more expensive than just starting from scratch with all new ones. We were able to find 10 all-in-one computers at a great price! Printers are an essential tool in any classroom! We were able to find a quality color printer at a very good price. Headphones are also important. Without headphones students won't be able to concentrate on their work and the sounds from 10 different computers would make accomplishing even the smallest task much more difficult! The headphones we found can be resized to fit any student's head. The LCD projector can hook up to the Computer to make it easy to display power point presentations. The CD player was bought so that the teacher can bring CDs from home that go along with the lessons. For instance, if we're learning about the 1920s the teacher could bring some music for the students to listen to from that time era. The digital camera would be used for fun and important moments in class, as well as for taking pictures to liven up lessons for the students. The blank CD's are for the teacher. The CD's would provide a great way to put together a slide show of the different pictures and class activities taken throughout the year. The teacher could also make copies to give to his/her students.
For the software we knew an antivirus program would be a must! We want our computers to be protected. AVG provides the safety features the computer needs at no cost! Open Office is also a great software program that offers the same functions as Microsoft Word. However Open Office is also free! Publisher was a must have and we got that at a really great rate. Even though Publisher is a program from Microsoft it did not come in the Microsoft packet so it would have cost extra to purchase it. For the educational software we purchased: Oregon Trail, World Explorer, and High Achiever. All three use fun and interactive methods to make History come alive for students. They help bring lessons into perspective for students.
